day thirteen; 6th july
Today we started our first assignment: street photography. After meeting at the University we walked to Piazza della Signoria, otherwise known as the meeting place of Florence which also opens onto the Uffizi courtyard. My teacher told us to change the manual settings for each photo so we could get used to the correct settings for bright and dark scenes. We then moved on to the piazza surrounding the Duomo, where I went down some streets so I could play with the shadows. The usual tourists also provided a good scene. San Lorenzo markets were next - we went into the indoor food markets there which were amazing. So many different things! The smells were pretty insane too (not the good kind! :P) - lots of cheese and dried meat and seafood. Reminded me of Hong Kong.
We got back to Uni around 12 and because I still had some film leftover I went back San Lorenzo way and took some more photos. Had a great salad for lunch - one that I didn’t have to make myself! Afternoon got away quickly so I made my way back to my apartment.
