day twenty-one; july 14th
Bit of a slow day today, didn’t have school until 3pm so spent the morning cleaning and washing = fun! Made my way to the train station around lunch time to buy my tickets to Venice which surprisingly was quick and easy. Off to school for an afternoon of developing and printing. It’s such a touchy process, thank gosh we’re in air-conditioning though otherwise I would not be able to concentrate at all. Met the girls from the weekend and we went out for dinner. Two are here completing an English teaching course, Cheryl and Emilie, for the same time as I am here, one (Liz) is here also for the month as she is friends with Cheryl and an other (Melissa) is here for the week to see Liz! They are all so nice and caring, I am so happy that we happened to just start talking on the train to the Cinque Terre. It’s also great to be surrounded by people in the same situation; studying abroad (though I have it a little easier than them!). We went to this lovely traditional restaurant down a small street where the menu was completely in Italian and they served bread in a paper bag (all good signs!). Emilie and I decided to share meals. For entree we ordered a plate which had a small selection of different pastas and for main we shared a sort of chicken curry, albeit tuscan style. Everything was delicious! We all shared a bottle of Persecco which is like a type of champagne. Afterwards, Cheryl and Emilie introduced me to this amazing gelato shop called Grom which makes all of its own gelato with natural ingredients. Though out melted very quickly, it was amazing! They so kindly walked me back home and I went to bed with a very satisfied tummy!
