day twenty-two; july 15th

Today we started our third assignment: natural and urban landscape, by making a visit to the Boboli Gardens which is situated behind Palazzo Pitti. I can’t even begin to describe how big this place is, “massive” doesn’t even cover half of it! Though there weren’t many flowers as such, there were mazes of hedges and vines and copious amounts of statues and water features - all really beautiful in the morning light. Though the intensity of the sun I think will have overexposed some of my pictures despite manually eliminating the possibility with the settings, it’s just so bright! We were there for the full lesson and I was able to shoot nearly a full roll. The gardens are about a five minute walk from my apartment so I left the group there. Went out for a walk in the afternoon, then came home and packed for Venice. I met up with Emily and Cheryl in Piazza Repubblica and we went to dinner at another little Italian restaurant with a very homely feel. We walked to the Ponte Vecchio and watched the sun set which combined with the insane colours and still water of the Arno is a beautiful site. We parted ways and now I am tidying up before I leave for the weekend.
